17+ Years of
Protocol Innovation
From solving VoIP's earliest challenges to powering next-generation SD-WAN deployments worldwide.
Born from Necessity
In 2009, bandwidth was scarce and expensive — particularly in emerging markets where VoIP was becoming the backbone of business communications. Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) were caught in an impossible bind: their customers demanded reliable voice quality, but the underlying network infrastructure simply couldn't deliver it. Standard protocols treated voice packets the same as file downloads, and the result was the same everywhere: crackling audio, dropped calls, and frustrated customers.
ViBE was conceived to solve this fundamental problem — not by working around the limitations of existing protocols, but by replacing them entirely. Rather than layering QoS policies on top of TCP/IP and hoping for the best, ViBE was designed from the ground up as a purpose-built protocol that manages traffic at the byte level, giving voice absolute priority without wasting a single byte of bandwidth on overhead. The approach was radical, and it worked.
Early adoption came through South African ITSPs, where bandwidth constraints were severe and the cost per megabit made efficiency a competitive necessity. ViBE transformed what was possible on their networks — suddenly, links that could barely sustain a handful of calls were carrying dozens with perfect quality. That South African base remains one of our largest deployments today, a testament to the longevity and reliability of the platform. From there, ViBE expanded into the global voice termination market, where carriers discovered that ViBE's protocol advantage translated directly into higher margins and superior quality ratings.
Over the past 17 years, ViBE has evolved from a VoIP-specialist protocol into a comprehensive SD-WAN and SASE platform — adding TCP acceleration, multi-path bonding, AES-256 encryption, traffic obfuscation, and central orchestration capabilities. But we've never lost what made ViBE special in the first place: the ability to make voice traffic sound flawless on any connection, anywhere. That foundation — protocol-level intelligence rather than packet-level workarounds — is what continues to differentiate Aritari from every other SD-WAN vendor on the market.
A History of Relentless Progress
ViBE Conceived
The ViBE protocol is created to solve VoIP quality on low-bandwidth connections — a purpose-built alternative to the broken TCP/IP stack for real-time communications.
South Africa Expansion
Major ITSP deployments across South Africa, proving ViBE's ability to deliver carrier-grade voice on constrained infrastructure. Many of these deployments remain active today.
ViBE v3 — Full WAN Optimisation
ViBE evolves beyond voice-only optimisation to become a complete WAN optimisation platform. Independent testing by Broadband-Testing validates the technology's claims.
Spirent Axon Validation
Comprehensive independent performance testing using Spirent Axon traffic generators and iTrinegy WAN emulators. Results exceed expectations across every metric tested.
Global Termination Market
ViBE establishes a significant presence in the global voice termination market, where carriers leverage the protocol's efficiency advantages to improve margins and quality ratings.
TCP Acceleration
Data optimisation capabilities are added, including transparent TCP acceleration that eliminates slow-start, window scaling limitations, and congestion collapse — delivering 25× throughput improvements under packet loss.
Military-Grade Security
AES-256 encryption and traffic obfuscation capabilities are added, splitting encrypted traffic across multiple routes and endpoint addresses to make interception virtually impossible.
Orchestration Platform
Launch of the deployment orchestration platform for central management at scale, alongside refinements to satellite and mobile failover capabilities for remote and mobile deployments.
Next-Generation SD-WAN/SASE
Aritari positions ViBE as a complete next-generation SD-WAN and SASE platform — combining 17 years of protocol innovation with modern security, orchestration, and multi-cloud capabilities.
Deploy on Anything
ViBE is built on Linux, and that foundation gives it extraordinary deployment flexibility. Unlike vendors that lock you into proprietary hardware with inflated margins and lengthy procurement cycles, ViBE runs on virtually any x86 or ARM platform — from a £40 router to a high-performance rack-mount appliance to a cloud-hosted virtual machine.
This hardware agnosticism isn't just a cost advantage — it's an operational one. You can standardise on the hardware that suits your environment, swap platforms without changing your network architecture, and deploy in locations where proprietary appliances would be impractical or impossible. From a Cudy router in a rural branch office to an AWS instance in a global data centre, ViBE delivers the same protocol-level performance everywhere.
Dedicated Appliances
Pre-configured Mikrotik and Cudy routers for rapid branch deployment. Cost-effective, reliable, and field-proven across hundreds of installations.
Mini PCs
x86 platforms based on Intel N95/N97 processors deliver enterprise-grade performance in a compact, fanless form factor. Ideal for offices, retail locations, and edge deployments.
Virtual Machines
Deploy as virtual appliances on VMware, AWS, Azure, or any hypervisor. Spin up hubs and spokes on demand with elastic scaling for cloud and hybrid architectures.
White Label
Embedded into partner solutions under their own brand. Full API integration, custom management interfaces, and flexible licensing for service providers and OEMs.
ViBE's Linux foundation also provides access to the full OpenWRT ecosystem, including a web-based GUI for device configuration and monitoring. This means on-site technicians can manage local settings through a familiar interface, while the central orchestration platform handles fleet-wide configuration, firmware updates, and policy management from a single pane of glass.
Global Presence, Local Impact
Service Providers
ViBE powers service provider networks across Africa and Europe, with a particularly strong presence among South African ITSPs where the technology first proved its worth. These long-standing deployments — many running continuously for over a decade — demonstrate the platform's stability and the trust operators place in it.
White-Label Partners
Technology partners like Enigma (enigmanet.ai) offer ViBE capabilities under their own brand, bringing the technology to markets and customer segments we couldn't reach alone. Our partner programme provides full technical support, co-marketing resources, and flexible commercial models.
Enterprise Deployments
From multi-site retail chains requiring reliable POS connectivity to defence organisations operating in contested environments, ViBE serves enterprise customers who need their networks to work — not just most of the time, but all of the time, under any conditions.
Aritari Ltd
Aritari Ltd is a Voipex Ltd company, based in the United Kingdom. Voipex has been developing the ViBE protocol and associated networking technologies since 2009, building a global customer base of service providers, enterprises, and technology partners.
Our engineering team combines deep protocol expertise with practical deployment experience across some of the world's most challenging network environments — from sub-Saharan Africa to satellite-connected maritime vessels to military-grade secure communications.
